A charity album backed by Prince Charles has raised thousands of pounds for the Ballater victims of Storm Frank.

Charles and his wife Camilla were the guests of honour at a special event in Glenmuick Church in January last year for the premiere of Immortal Memory, a collection of music by composer Paul Mealor and the Aberdeen University Chamber Choir.

Prof Mealor, whose compositions were performed at the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, put together the CD of choral performances of Robert Burns works to raise cash for the Ballater flood appeal.

The Deeside village was devastated by Storm Frank at the end of 2015.

Hundreds of people were driven from their homes as flood waters swept through the community, and a great deal of businesses took years to recover.

Now, more than a year and a half since the premiere of the album, Prof Mealor has revealed the project has raised more than £6,000 for those who were impacted by the disastrous storm.

The cash will be used by the Prince’s Foundation, the charity of the Duke of Rothesay, to support projects in and around Ballater.

The foundation has already invested in a number of local projects in the area, including the redevelopment of the caravan park and the Ballater station, and the creation of the Rothesay Rooms restaurant.

The Immortal Memory charity album, which includes musical performances of Burns classics such as My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose and a special reading of To A Haggis by Highland Games compere Robert Lovie, is still available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon.
