A £350,000 project to help ensure the embankment next to the A90 at Bridge of Muchalls remains safe is underway with the project entering the next phase in December.
The work involves stabilising the embankment next to the roadside as well as improvements to the street lighting, safety fencing and footways in the area.
Work has been ongoing since mid-November with the majority of improvements taking place off the carriageway on the embankment beneath the road, with temporary lane closures in place during off-peak hours in the daytime.
Teams are now turning to the next phase which is scheduled to begin on Monday 3 December for two weeks. This will involve teams working on the southbound embankment next to the A90 south of the Bridge of Muchalls, helping to strengthen the area and ensure the road continues to function safely.

To keep roadworkers as well as road users safe, a single-lane closure will be in place continuously for five days from Monday 3 December at 9.30am until Friday 7 December at 3.30pm. The remainder of the project will then continue under off-peak lane closures as required until it is complete.
Temporary footway diversions will also be in place for pedestrian safety during the works.

“This £350,000 embankment stabilisation project will help ensure the road continues to function safely for years to come.
“The footway, street lighting and safety fence works will also improve pedestrian safety in the area and ensure active travel links are maintained.
“We’ve scheduled the majority of this project to take place during off-peak daytime hours to limit the impact to road users, however the traffic management required in this next phase is essential to ensure everyone is kept safe during the improvements.
“Our teams will do all they can to can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible, however we encourage road users to plan their journey in advance and allow some extra time to complete their journey.”
