Lightning struck the north-east last night and this timelapse video shows the scale of it.
Thirty minutes of real-time lightning strikes, as recorded by lightningmaps.org, are shown here timelapsed to just one minute.
A yellow weather warning was issued by the Met Office yesterday after “recent developments suggest another surge of frequent lightning activity”.
“Although heavy rain is possible, perhaps with locally 10-15mm inside an hour later today, lightning strikes seem the more likely hazard,” the alert read.
The weather conditions also provided an opportunity for photographs across the north-east to capture some stunning pictures.
