An owner of an Aberdeenshire sanctuary has thanked an “amazing” outpouring of public support for her sickly dog.
Louise Yule, who runs Halfpenny Farm Animal Sanctuary near Kintore, launched a public appeal for donations after she found out her pooch, Jasper, needed a life saving operation.
The nine-year-old short-haired German Pointer had previously been hailed a “hero dog” for his blood donations that helped the save the lives of three other four-legged friends.
A total of £3,000 was needed for his vital leg surgery, with the target reached this month by 110 individual donors.
Since his surgery, Jasper is returning to full strength, with Mrs Yule seeking to thank all those that donated to his cause.
She said: “Jasper’s operation went really well.
“He was in on Friday getting final x-rays and his knee is healing.
“I can now lead walk him for around five minutes a day, extending it over the next few weeks and his final post operation check-up is in four weeks time.
“From carrying his leg constantly, he is walking comfortably on all four and is no longer on pain relief.
“We are so very grateful for all the support and donations given.”
