Chrissie and Charlie Murray fell in love on the brink of World War II and had to put their romance on hold when Mr Murray was called to serve as an air gunner in the Far East.
The north-east pair happily rekindled their relationship when the conflict concluded and married in September, 1949.
And now, they have marked their platinum anniversary after enjoying 70 years of wedded bliss.
Mr Murray, 94, and Mrs Murray, 92, live at Airlie Gardens in Banff but marked the day at the home of their daughter Lorna in Campbell Street – where they used to live.
She said: “My parents have always been close to each other and their family. They enjoyed their work and other people, and despite the normal difficulties of life they’ve always remained happy, contented people.”
