VIDEO: Pipers bring curtain down on the first In-Tune Festival in Inverurie

A parade of massed pipes and drums brought the curtain down on the first In-Tune festival in Inverurie at the weekend.

Local pipe bands marched down High Street yesterday before performing outside the town hall in front of a large crowd.

The performance was the grand finale to the three-day festival, organised by Inverurie Business Improvement District (Bid).

Sixteen events were held across the weekend, including the Silver City Soul Review and a performance by the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra.

“We’ve never done anything like this before and it has been pretty successful,” said Derek Ritchie, Inverurie Bid manager.

“We were disappointed with the weather because we had a couple of things planned for the outdoors that couldn’t go ahead but otherwise most events were really well attended.

“The aim of the festival is to bring footfall to Inverurie and to get people to spend some pennies in the shops here.

“The more we have going on throughout the year the more people will get into the habit of coming to Inverurie. That’s the ultimate aim.

“The festival is hopefully something we are going to build on in years to come.”
