Councillors will be asked to approve plans for nearly 100 new homes in Stonehaven next week.
Kirkwood Homes’ plans to expand the Ury Estate by building 94 houses have been met with mixed response by residents.
The proposed dwellings form part of the enabling development associated with the restoration of Ury House, with a total of 230 houses planned overall.
Stonehaven and District Community Council have objected to the proposals and sought reassurance on school rolls, medical practice capacity, an integrated flood risk assessment and sustainable urban drainage assessment – along with demands for the building of the link road.
Concerns have also been raised about the loss of green space and walking routes.
However, planning officers have recommended the project be approved and assured councillors that there would no loss of parkland and that previous concerns about lay-out and visitor parking had been addressed.
They also point out that the principle of the housing has previously been agreed.
Stephen Archer, director of infrastructure services states: “The proposed layout and design presents a continuation of the adjacent development, proposing a good range of house types in a permeable layout with good connectivity and open space within the site.”
