A north-east farmer is thought to have suffered upwards of £10,000 in damages after a dramatic fire.
Flames tore through around 1,000 bales of straw at Waulkmill Farm in Rothienorman on Tuesday night.
Fire engines from Oldmeldrum, Turriff, Insch and Inverurie were sent to the scene.
Additional resources were also dispatched, including water carrier vehicles and a tall hydraulic platform from Aberdeen Central station, to take on the blaze from above.
Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident and are seeking members of the public who witnessed “suspicious activity” to come forward.
Nobody was injured and the farmer managed to evacuate his cattle from the building.
Sergeant Colin Houston said: “The value of damage is expected to reach a five-figure sum of money.
“Inquiries are still ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are keeping an open mind as to how it may have started.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area before the fire broke out.”
Anyone with information which may assist the investigation should contact police on 101, quoting reference number 3505 of 27 November.
