Time is running out for Inspiring Aberdeenshire nominations

Time is running out to nominate who you think is one of the greatest unsung heroes of Aberdeenshire.

The Inspiring Aberdeenshire Awards initiative is one of the highlights of the local authority’s calendar, and is designed to bring attention to individuals who have gone above and beyond to make the region a better place to live in the last year.

Winners from previous years include photographer Amy Muir, who secured the Inspirational Volunteer Award for setting up a farmer’s market in Ballater, and Fraserburgh grandmother Alixa Gunn who received the Cultural Award for teaching dancing for more than six decades.

Bill Howatson, the Provost of Aberdeenshire, said: “These awards are designed to celebrate the very best of Aberdeenshire.

“Each year, we gather to recognise inspirational people from right across the area, often people who work tirelessly in their communities for very little recognition.

“That is what makes Inspiring so special, it’s our chance to redress that balance and help put our local heroes in the spotlight.

“It is a real team effort, from securing nominations to arranging the event, to supporting our excellent performances.

“The event itself leaves every guest feeling humbled, uplifted and proud of the people of Aberdeenshire, and an evening you will not forget.”

Nominations are open until the end of 2019.
