An Aberdeen University student has created a new show highlighting positive stories from around the world to help spread happiness.
Emilia Davie, who is in her final year at the university studying business management and English literature, has released the first episode of her free new podcast Take A Walk On The Bright Side: The Good News Podcast.
The podcast – which can be downloaded or streamed online – features light-hearted and positive stories to contrast the often upsetting daily updates of Covid-19 death and infection rates across the globe.
Miss Davie, 21, said her first episode includes snippets of information such as the resurgence of sparrows in the UK and the tale of a golden retriever who helps to deliver food parcels in America.
She said: “My final exam has now turned into an essay submission and I started to feel a little demotivated and quite down.
“The awful news about coronavirus is just constant on the radio and television, and everywhere really.
“I noticed that it was really bringing the whole household down and that we weren’t really talking about anything else.
“I thought it would be a good idea to highlight good news stories, all in a convenient place.”
Although she has only released one episode so far, Miss Davie said she hopes to make more very soon.
