An Aberdeenshire care home is to close its doors following a “prolonged period of low occupancy” and challenges in recruiting staff.
The 22 residents at Pitmurchie House care home in Torphins will be moved to new sites.
Advinia Health Care, which operates the home, said it will work with the Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership (AHSCP) to ensure a “smooth transition”.
A spokesman for the care operator said: “We regret to announce we have begun the process of consultation to close Pitmurchie House care home.
“It has sadly become financially unviable to keep the 31-bed care home open following a prolonged period of low occupancy.
“We appreciate this will be a difficult time for some residents and we will do all we can to support them.
“The home has also faced significant challenges in recruiting sufficient numbers of qualified staff and we envisage this will only get harder as we fully exit the EU later in the year.”
The AHSCP’s partnership manager for South Aberdeenshire, Iain Ramsay, said local care management teams would continue to work with the staff and management at Pitmurchie, along with residents and their families, to ensure there is “a smooth transition to any new placements”.
Aberdeenshire West MSP Alexander Burnett added: “It is vital the provider works closely with the social care partnership to find homes that are just as comfortable and safe as Pitmurchie.”
