A north-east church has launched an appeal for food and school uniforms.

Catalyst Vineyard Church Inverurie is currently supporting 60 families through its foodbank.

However, they are in need of items with long shelf life such as tinned meat, tinned fruit, jam, noodles, cereal, sauces and long life bread.

Shampoo, deodrant, washing up liquid and laundry detergent are also appreciated.

Pastor Jude McBean said: “We’ve long since tried to keep active in the community and do what we can to help each other.

“People have been so generous with the foodbank. We even had a wee boy who was running the length of a marathon over the last month, and he asked if he could give his granny’s sponsorship to the foodbank.”

The church will also soon collect “good condition pre-loved school uniforms” before washing, ironing them and packaging them as a gift for those in the community.

People can drop off items at the church’s van on Sunday afternoons.

The times are 1.30pm-2pm at Market Square carpark in Oldmeldrum, 2.30pm-3pm at the Inverurie Academy car park, and 3.30pm-4pm at the Kintore Primary school car park.
