Bin collections will soon take place on a fortnightly basis for Aberdeen residents after months of rubbish being picked up by the council only every four weeks.
When lockdown was imposed, collections by Abedeen City Council’s waste and recycling service was cut to once a month to adhere to guidance on limiting the spread of Covid-19.
But from August 3, fortnightly collection of household mixed recycling bins and brown bins for garden and food waste will once again be available for those living in the city.
Collection days will stay the same, and fortnightly calendars will be available for residents to view on the local authority’s website from next week.
Councillor John Wheeler, convener of the operational delivery committee, said: “I am very pleased to advise that the fortnightly collection of household mixed recycling bins and brown bin collections for garden waste and food waste in Aberdeen will return from next month.
“We appreciate it has been difficult for residents, and I would personally like to thank them for their understanding and cooperation at what has been an extremely challenging time for us all.”
All household waste and recycling centres in the city reopened to the public on June 1, however some restrictions are still in place.
In Aberdeenshire, kerbside bin collections are currently operating as normal on its usual schedule.
