Plans have been formed to boost the health of residents in an Aberdeenshire town by creating a new cycle path.
People in Ellon have been urged to share their views on the proposed shared-use cycle and pedestrian space.
The path would meander through Caroline’s Well Woods, linking homes in the north of the community to the town centre.
Aberdeenshire Council launched a survey this week to gauge local opinion on the plans.
Ellon councillor Gillian Owen told the P&J: “Connectivity is key, and encouraging walking and cycling is really important for everyone’s wellbeing – particularly now that most of us with Covid-19 have taken to walking at least once a day.
“It was agreed when the houses were built that there should be a path and it is really important that everyone has the opportunity to give their view, so I would encourage locals to take part.
“I’m really supportive of a path and look forward to seeing the outcome once the consultation has come to an end.”
Ewan Wallace, head of transportation at Aberdeenshire Council, added: “I encourage the public to provide their feedback on this proposal so we can continue to develop safe and efficient travel routes for all residents.”
The survey closes on August 30, 2020 and can be completed at
