Jaguars and Daimlers on display at last year's Annual Gathering and Car Show at Drum Castle, near Banchory

A fleet of Jaguars and Daimlers will roar into the North East on Sunday as one of the biggest car shows of the summer gets underway.

More than 50 of the classic cars are expected to line the lawn at Drum Castle, near Banchory, on Sunday.

On show will be a range of models dating back as far as the 1950s with Grampian region of the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club (JEC) celebrating the 15th year of the event.

As well as bringing together classic car fans, the show also raises money for good causes with this year’s proceeds going to educational charity Aberdeenshire Learning Education Centres (Alec).

Henry Riddoch, chairman of the group and gathering organiser, said: “The popularity of the club’s annual event has increased every year.

“Over the 14 year history of the annual gathering we’ve welcomed thousands of passionate Jaguar and Daimler car owners and general spectators who enjoy seeing the best of Grampian’s cars all together on show.”

As well as the car display, families can enjoy music from the Gordon Highlanders Pipe Band, stalls, refreshments and a raffle – for the chance to win a weekend in a Jaguar F Type.

The Porsche Club will also be in attendance.

The team from Alec will also join in the fun, and will bring along a mobile classroom to show how the proceeds of the event will go towards helping them with their work to promote healthy life choice education programmes to all nursery and primary children in Aberdeenshire.

The event will run from noon to 4pm.

Pre-booking a space is not necessary – anyone wishing to enter their Jaguar or Daimler should simply be at the castle before 11.30am.
