Police are asking Aberdeenshire residents to be vigilant following a series of break-ins.

Hundreds of pounds worth of items was stolen between Tuesday October 28 and Wednesday October 29 in Newburgh and Ellon.

On Tuesday, power tools and other items worth more than £100 were taken from Ellon’s Esslemont area between 6am and 3.45pm.

Between 9.15pm and 1.15pm on the same day, a home on the A90 Aberdeen to Ellon road, near its junction with A975 Foveran to Newburgh road was broken into where two items also worth more than £100 were stolen.

Between 12pm on Tuesday and 8am on Wednesday thieves also broke into a portable cabin in Newburgh and stole six alloy wheels.

A police spokeswoman said: “Residents are asked to ensure doors and windows are secured before they go out and check around the premises that all entry and exit points are properly secured. People with alarms are encouraged to check the system regularly and to ensure it is set whenever they are away from the property.

“Members of the public who may have seen people acting suspiciously in their local area are advised to call the police on 101 or if they wish to remain anonymous, they should contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
