The UK’s tallest Christmas tree is to be lit up tonight in Aberdeenshire.
The tree, which is located at Hilton Grand Vacations Club at Ballater, stands at a quite staggering 125ft tall, will be decorated with 2100 lights and will be topped with a giant 5.5ft star.
Local schoolchildren from Ballater Primary School choir will mark the occasion by singing Christmas carols around the foot of the giant tree.
Paul Leitch, Country Club manager, said: “We are really looking forward to this year’s big switch on which will also raise funds for Hilton in the Community Foundation.
“Seeing the tree lit up marks the start of the build up to Christmas for lots of our guests, visitors and neighbours. The tree can be seen from up to 15 miles away – so it has become quite a special landmark in the area.”
This evening’s event will begin in Ballater at 6.30pm.
