Police search intensifies for missing Aberdeenshire man

Police have stepped up their search for a missing Aberdeenshire man this evening.

Martin Thomson, 62, went missing from the Huntly area on Wednesday.

His disappearance prompted a police search today involving dogs, mountain rescue teams and an RAF search and rescue helicopter.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police Scotland is asking members of the public to report any sightings of him or his vehicle, a black Mitsubishi Shogun registration SW64 GGO.”

Aberdeenshire area commander, chief inspector Richard Craig, said: “We are extremely concerned for Martin’s safety and we are urging the public, including walkers, dog walkers and horse riders to be on the lookout for Martin.

“We are also asking the community to check outbuildings. We are keen to trace Martin’s black Mitsubishi Shogun, registration number SW64 GGO, and would urge the public to be vigilant and report any sightings of this vehicle to police.

“Searches have been ongoing since Martin was reported missing and we have had assistance from specialist searchers as well the RAF Search and Rescue helicopter.

“These searches are continuing and anyone with information is urged to contact us.”
