Fire crews rescue man from Peterhead blaze

Fire crews town battled a house fire in an Aberdeenshire town this evening, rescuing a man from the flames.

The fire, in the town’s Duncan Crescent, started around 9pm last night but was quickly extinguished just 25 minutes later.

Two appliances from Peterhead and one from Maud were sent to the scene, supported by police and an ambulance crew.

The man was taken to Peterhead hospital to be treated. The extent of his injuries remains unclear.

A fire service spokesman said that it was also unclear how the blaze started.

He said: “We received the stop message by 9.25 pm that the fire had been extinguished.

“It was a fire inside the property but we can’t say at this stage what caused it.

“One person was rescued from inside and received first aid.

“Nobody else was inside and no other properties were evacuated.”

A police spokesman said: “We attended as a support agency after a residential fire at a property in Peterhead.

“Everyone inside the property is safe and accounted for.”

An spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We took the person rescued to Peterhead hospital by ambulance. We have no further details.”
