New beer garden to be introduced at north east festival

Last year's Taste of Grampian festival

A popular north-east food and drinks festival will host a new beer garden attraction for connoisseurs who really know their hops.

Taste of Grampian, now in its 16th year, has joined forces with local breweries for the annual event in June at the Thainstone Centre, Inverurie.

The Brewfest beer garden, sponsored by Bottle Cap Bar, will allow visitors to sample and buy a wide range of locally-sourced draft and bottled beers, gins, whiskies and wines at the one-day event.

Event organisers have been busy trying to find fresh ideas for the event, with street food stalls also being a new addition to the programme.

Recipe cards and menus provided by street food vendors will direct customers to the stalls where they can purchase the raw produce to take home and recreate their favourite dishes from the day.

Organisers has also teamed up with Visit Aberdeen to increase accessibility for tourists coming to the region for the event with additional information on places to stay in the city.

John Gregor, chairman of the festival, said this year’s event could be the best yet.

He said: “The festival has been a popular visitor attraction over the last 16 years – attracting around 14,000 visitors – and there is a real sense of local pride as it raises awareness of the region.

“We are delighted to introduce new elements for returning and new visitors to compliment the day – this year is shaping up to be the biggest and the best yet.

“All of these elements only add to the main attraction of the food and drink producers that showcase their wares on the day. We are exceptionally proud of the quality and diversity of the stallholders signed up to take you on this culinary adventure.

The commitment received from these exhibitors is second to none to make this event the success that it is.”

The festival programme also includes music, children’s entertainment, arts and crafts, cookery competitions and demonstrations and our celebrity chefs and guests.

Taste of Grampian will take place on June 6 at Thainstone Centre, Inverurie.
