An 18-year-old man who died in a horrific car crash in Deeside has been remembered as a “cracking lad” who always had a smile on his face.

A friend of Jordan Milne, a former pupil of Aboyne Academy, has spoken about the young driver who died in the early hours of Sunday morning on the A93 Kincardine O’Neil to Aboyne road in Aberdeenshire.

Cameron Edgar, 17, said he had been out with a group of friends in their cars in Banchory on Saturday night but that Jordan had left to go home to his bed.

Shortly afterwards, he got a phone call from another friend who heard about the collision and was checking to see if Cameron had been involved.

Cameron said: “We went up and the fire engine and police were all there already. We were all up there waiting but the police wouldn’t tell us anything.

“It was all a bit much, we were obviously worried.”

Jordan lived on a farm near Lumphanan and worked as a mechanic for Hays Hydraulics in Aberdeen.

He was travelling alone in his black MG when the car came off the road, landed on its roof and went on fire, shortly after 1am.

A woman in her 50s, a man in his 70s, a 68-year-old woman and a man in his 60s were also injured in the tragedy. They were travelling in a Mercedes after attending a wedding in the area.

Their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Police are investigating the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

Cameron, a manufacturing technician described Jordan as a hard working young man who enjoyed meeting up with his friends and watching football.

He said Jordan was a car enthusiast and often helped his grandfather work on a farm.

Cameron said: “We were good pals. He was a cracking lad, always up for a laugh. He always had a smile on his face.

“It is sad to see him go.”
