“Bag fulls of drugs” found in police Inverurie raid

Residents watched in shock yesterday as police swooped on a house in a quiet Aberdeenshire suburb.

Two men and two women were detained following the raid at Kingfisher Way, in Inverurie’s Osprey Heights area.

Locals said three police vans and four cars, along with undercover vehicles, arrived at the property with sniffer dogs around 11am.

Neighbours said officers approached the front door armed with a battering ram – which was not used – while others kept guard at the back of the house.

A police spokeswoman said: “I can confirm there was a drug search in the Kingfisher area of Inverurie as part of an intelligence-led operation. Two men and two women were detained. Inquiries are ongoing.”

One Osprey Heights resident said: “There must have been about 10 officers going in. It was like something you see on the telly.

“It was a proper, full-scale raid.

“Two people came out of the house in handcuffs and went away in a van.

“The police had bags full of stuff.”

Another resident said: “There was an undercover car, three police cars and two vans and a dog van.

“This is a nice, quiet street usually – a lovely street. This is the first time something like this has happened.”
