Aberdeen convention for kids contemplating life after school

School leavers face difficult choices
School leavers face difficult choices

Young people across the north-east have been invited to a further education convention in Aberdeen later this month.

Aimed at school leavers, the event will be hosted by Aberdeen University in partnership with UCAS and Skills Development Scotland (SDS).

Experts will be on hand to offer advice on a whole host of courses and different options for young people as they think about life after school.

Last night SDS’s Irene McIntosh said: “The convention is a one-stop shop for young people and their parents to find out the facts about all the options open to them by offering access to the experts in one location at one time.

“Choosing which university, course, or career to pursue is a major decision so it is really important to have all the relevant information to help make that process clearer and easier.”

There will be talks from Aberdeen University, the Robert Gordon’s University, Scotland’s Rural College and SDS.

The Higher Education Convention will take place on September 14 and 15 at Elphinstone Hall.

The sessions will run from 4.30pm-7pm on the Monday and from 9.30am-noon and 1pm-3pm the next day.

The sessions are aimed primarily at fifth and sixth year pupils but parents, carers and college students are welcome to go along.
