VIDEO: The internet mocks, sympathises and supports Sandi Thom after her ‘meltdown’

An Aberdeenshire singer songwriter has defended an outburst on social media yesterday slamming the BBC.

Sandi Thom released a video on social media, venting her frustration at music bosses and claiming she is “Done with this industry”.

The expletive laden rant followed BBC Radio 2’s decision not to include her new single ‘Earthquake’ in their latest playlist – a decision Thom believes destroys the song’s chances of succeeding in the UK.

The 34-year-old from Banff posted the two minute 37 second video alongside a message which read: “This is what it feels like when radio 2 Reject you once again.

“Earthquake is perfect for them. And quite frankly I’ve had enough, radio 2 Have well and truly done me in this time. Sorry guys. I’m out.”

Social Media speculated amongst many things that her emotional outburst was staged for publicity to promote her songs but the singer quickly shut this down tweeting an explanation.

A lot of twitter users who had jumped on the bandwagon of having a go at the frustrated mum to be quickly found themselves making heartfelt sympathetic retractions and a wave of sympathy and support followed.

Sandi announced back in September that she was expecting.

She made the announcement on social media and also confirmed that she will be giving birth back in Scotland to be closer to family.

She and boyfriend Matt Benson made the announcement on Twitter and Facebook.

There were still some gags to be had, but in the British tradition of tongues firmly in cheek.

Even comedian Limmy sympathised with her, in his own bizarre cheeky way.
