Following on from successful launch events, two European funding programmes are looking for enterprising people and companies across the north east to get in touch with them.

Leader programmes for north and south Aberdeenshire are seeking applications from rural businesses and communities for a wide range of projects.

The funds are managed by partnerships which are known as Local Action Groups.

South Aberdeenshire’s group chair, Liam Smyth, said: “I am pleased to announce that the South Aberdeenshire leader programme is open for business.

“We have been allocated around £2.8 million from the European Union and Scottish Government which will make a real difference to our communities and economy.”

His counterpart in North Aberdeenshire, Duncan Leece, added: “The previous Rural Aberdeenshire leader programme was a great success and helped communities to deliver a number of fantastic projects in the region.

“We aim to build upon this success with the new £3.3 million North Aberdeenshire leader programme by supporting [a range of ] new and innovative projects.

Applicants must complete an Expression of Interest form before applying.

The deadline for the first round of full applications is January 29, 2016, with decisions being made by the partnerships in March.
