A historic tourist attraction is reaping the benefits of a new and improved marketing strategy thanks to a work experience programme being run by Robert Gordon University.
Braemar Castle in Aberdeenshire is one of 230 local small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) across the City and Shire which have taken part in Talent Exchange, whic was launched back in 2014 by RGU.
The scheme currently has 175 students involved from its 2015/2016 academic year.
Braemar Castle signed up to the initiative and subsequently developed a new marketing strategy with the help of an RGU marketing student.
Since the scheme, Braemar Castle says it has seen a real benefit from taking part in the programme and utilising the talents and knowledge of RGU students.
Laura McMeekan, castle manager, said: “Our student completed a thorough review of the last five seasons of the marketing of Braemar Castle, and created a marketing plan for 2016.
“We are starting to implement that and already seeing positive results.
“We have had a great experience working with Talent Exchange and it’s fantastic to hear how popular it has been as it’s really having a positive impact on the local economy by helping the region’s small business community grow and flourish.”
Yvonne Cook, project manager for Talent Exchange, added: “The demand from businesses looking to engage with Talent Exchange has been fantastic and is testament to the needs of SMEs to flexibly tap into the skills and knowledge of RGU students.
“The success of Talent Exchange and the boost it is providing to local businesses is contributing to the role RGU plays in helping the region’s development by working in partnership with private, public and voluntary organisations.”
