Aberdeenshire schools have several closures or changes to transport today.
A statement on the council website read:
“The following schools are currently closed or have school transport changes:
Aboyne Academy – Changes to School Transport Routes
The following arrangements have been put in place to accommodate affected pupils who reside in Braemar and between Ballater and Braemar:
A Stagecoach Bluebird vehicle will operate from Braemar, at the existing times, and carry all entitled pupils to Invercauld.
Pupils will be required to walk across the old Bridge of Dee.
There are a number of flood lights and they will be escorted across by the Driver (a Council employee).
Parents/carers need to be aware that the path across the bridge is muddy and pupils should have appropriate footwear, etc.
At the other side of the bridge a further Stagecoach vehicle will be waiting to transport them to Aboyne Academy (via the B976 to Ballater).
The reverse arrangements will apply in the afternoon (pupils will need to ensure they board the correct bus).
The four pupils who reside between Invercauld and Crathie will picked up by the Stagecoach bus.
The two entitled pupils who reside between Crathie and Ballater will be transported from their home to/from Aboyne Academy by taxi. )
Glenbervie School – Closed
School Closed to Pupils Only (Due to the adverse weather conditions Glenbervie School will be closed today Thursday 7th January due to a problem with our roof and flooding in the classrooms.
Aberdeenshire Council will be in touch regarding situation throughout the day.
Inverurie Academy – Changes to School Transport Routes
The following school transport runs are unable to operate today due to flooding on the roads: ABC (Bain’s) Coaches (contract number SS649E running from the Keithhall Area).
Stagecoach (contract number SS649D running from Keithhall/Fintray). Please do not take your child(ren) to school yourself, unless it is safe to do so. If you do take your child(ren) to school, you must also be able to collect them at the end of the day. Pupils unable to attend should complete work that is available online, or work through activities/resources that they have at home.)
