Police hunting for missing hillwalker James Robertson have released CCTV footage of the last known sighting of him in Aberdeen.
The 61-year-old left his home in Glasgow’s Cathcart area on February 29 and was caught on camera at Aberdeen bus station around 1pm on the same day.
As part of the search operation officers have appealed to anyone who was in the Derry Lodge area of the Mar Lodge Estate near Braemar on Tuesday and Wednesday last week to come forward.
They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who stayed at Bob Scott’s Bothy close to Derry Lodge as it is understood Mr Robertson used the shelter as a base before setting out on a day’s trek.
His daughter Lynn Strachan said her family were distraught and desperate for information.
She said: “Our only hopes of finding him rely on people who have been in or are in the Cairngorms area to come forward with any information.
“The area is so vast and we have no information about what mountain he could be on.
“We need someone who has seen my dad to help Braemar and Aberdeen mountain rescue teams to narrow their search.”
Detective Inspector Norman Stevenson said: “Jim is an experienced hillwalker who has been to the Cairngorms before but as time goes on we are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.
“We have no clear indication of the exact route he intended to take so we are appealing to anyone who may have seen him or spoken to him either at the bothy or on the hill to get in touch.”
Mr Robertson is described as around 5ft 10in, of medium build with short grey hair and he also wears glasses.
When he was last seen he was wearing dark clothing, walking boots, trousers and a jacket and hat.
