Police are set to quiz hundreds of residents in the north-east over the murder of a man in Aberdeenshire.
Officers plan to visit more than 800 homes within a three-mile radius of Brian McKandie’s house near Rothienorman.
Mr McKandie, 67, died after being attacked in his home on March 12.
Officers have compiled descriptions of people in surrounding properties and compared that with information already given during the murder investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Iain Smith said: “At the moment, inquiries are still ongoing and we have an enormous amount of information.
“We actually have more officers on the case now than previously.
“We have a house-to-house team going round a three-mile radius which will cover more than 800 properties over the next few months.
“This will continue to happen if the present situation continues.”
He added: “For every address, we will fill out forms giving a full description of people to see if that matches up with what we know.
“We hope to cross-reference this.”
CCTV footage of Mr McKandie at his local bank in Turriff on March 11 was released last month – the last known images of him alive.
DCI Smith said officers were also searching CCTV within a 57-mile radius from where Mr McKandie lived.
This includes footage from public transport as well as areas such as Oldmeldrum.
A ceremony to mark Mr McKandie’s life was held at Auchterless Parish Church on Wednesday.
