An Aberdeen drama teacher is due to represent Scotland in the finals of a prestigious UK theatre competition.
Scott Neish and the Studio Theatre Group beat off competition from 122 Scottish productions with their interpretation of Luigi Januzzi’s hit New York play A Bench on the Edge.
Mr Neish, who describes himself as a Doric actor, has also been nominated for a Aberdeen City Council People’s Champion award as a result of his work as a drama teacher at Hazlehead Academy.
Alongside his teaching role, the 33-year-old is also involved in producing a number of annual productions with pupils of all years.
The 33-year-old from Dyce, who has been hailed for inspiring hundreds of youngsters with his innovative approach to teaching, said: “I love teaching theatre and have a real passion for working with young people – watching them grow and develop as they create and produce artistic work.
“Drama teaching offers pupils real life skills and gives them a space to appreciate learning and creativity.
“For the past 10 years I’ve also been involved in amateur theatre and I’m proud to say there is a very strong cultural community in Aberdeen.”
Mr Neish will travel to Cardiff in July with the Studio Theatre Group to perform in finals of the British festival of One
Act Play where he will compete with groups from England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
