A north-east road could be closed until late August after police were forced to put emergency procedures in place.
A large stretch of Kennerty Road in Peterculter, spanning from the junction of Millside Street to the junction of Kennerty Mills Road, has been blocked off due to embankment slippage.
The issue is believed to have appeared to the south west of Kennerty Bridge and has worsened, leading to the closure.
A spokesman for Aberdeen City Council confirmed that further traffic on the road could further affect its structural stability so alternative routes will be in operation as work is carried out to repair it.
The spokesman said: “Aberdeen City Council is in the process of appointing a contractor to carry out the repair and it is anticipated that the on-site works will commence mid-July.
“However, the road will have to remain closed until the repairs have been made and the road is stabilised which could take up to 8 weeks.
“We would like to apologise for the inconvenience the road closure will cause.”
