A north-east businessman has admitted being in possession of drugs.
Wayne Findlay appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday and admitted to two charges.
The 36-year-old pleaded guilty to having a controlled drug in his possession at Barrasgate Road, Fraserburgh on January, 4.
Findlay also pleaded guilty to having a controlled drug at Deer Road, Maud on April 26.
Fiscal depute Ruaridh McAlister told the court a “small amount” of the class A drug had been found at a property at the start of the year.
He said around five grams of cocaine, with a street value of around £300, had been discovered a few months later in April.
Defence agent Iain Jane said the offences came when Findlay, whose address was given in court papers as Philforth Avenue, Fraserburgh, was finding it hard to come to terms with the breakdown of his relationship.
He added Findlay was currently living with parents.
Mr Jane said: “He usually runs his own drain-cleaning business, but this had proved difficult as he struggled to cope with the end of a relationship.
“He didn’t cope very well and he started spending time with those he had bought drugs from.
“His business was subsequently affected and he lost contracts for work.”
Mr Jane said Findlay’s loved ones had supported him as he tried to quit drugs and he has now returned to work.
Mr Jane added: “His parents have helped him go through an intoxication process.
“He has re-established his business and has someone working with him who is able to take on some of the responsibility.
“He has stepped away from this peer group he was associated with and this has given him an insight into a life he does not want to lead.”
Sheriff Christine McCrossan fined Findlay £200 for the find in Fraserburgh at the start of the year.
He was admonished over the drugs discovered in Maud.
