Aberdeen man kept £60,000 cocaine stash in safe in family home

Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

An Aberdeen man has been told to expect a “fairly substantial” jail sentence after being caught with cocaine worth £60,000 in a safe in his home.

Darryl Senior admitted being involved in the supply of the class A drug after a police raid at his home in Stewart Terrrace in Northfield in May.

Fiscal depute Christie Ward told Aberdeen Sheriff Court officers had raided the property after receiving a tip off about the 38-year-old.

Specialist officers were called in to open the safe after police dog Poppy indicated it was likely an illicit substance was inside, Ms Ward added.

She added that a bulking agent was also found in the loft.

Ms Ward said: “He was found in the upstairs bathroom. His partner, children and other family members were in the property as well.

Officers found £240 cash and another 1.5g of cocaine elsewhere in the building, as well as two scales, self-seal bags, smell-free bags and razor blades.

Overall the haul could have been worth £63,090 if it were cut and sold in gram bags, Ms Ward said.

In its current state it was worth £15,670.

Sheriff Graeme Napier deferred sentence for background reports, but told Senior: “Because of the fairly professional nature of this you will be looking at a fairly substantial custodial sentence.

“I will continue your bail to allow you to get your affair in order.”

Senior will appear in court again next month for sentencing.
