A man has appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court charged with attempted murder after a 61-year-old man suffered serious injuries in an alleged attack.

Maciej Lisowski appeared in private following the incident in the Park Street area of Aberdeen, close to Lemon Place.

The 21-year-old is also charged under Section 49 of the Criminal Law Scotland Act over the possession of a blade or a sharply pointed article.

Maciej made no plea at the behind-closed-doors hearing and was committed for further examination.

He gave an address in Aberdeen and was remanded in custody.

Man believed to have been stabbed

Police launched a manhunt immediately after the incident in the early hours of Thursday, Feburary 28, and appealed to the public for information.

Officers said the man sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

It’s believed he was stabbed more than a dozen times.

The incident happened on Park Street near Lemon Place.

‘Not in keeping with the area’

Speaking after the incident, Aberdeen City Council Harbour and George Street councillor, Michael Hutchison, urged anyone with information to “support the police as fully as possible” with their inquiries.

He said: “I am surprised to hear about what has happened and it’s certainly not in keeping for the area.

“I am shocked to hear the extent of what has been described. I do hope the victim makes a full recovery.”
