Two men have appeared in court today charged with murder after a stabbing in Peterhead.

Ethan Carlyle, 21, and Luke Allan, 27, both from Peterhead, are accused of killing Aberdeen man Andrew Ross.

The 52-year-old’s body was found on the town’s Ives Road at about 9.20pm on Sunday.

The Press and Journal understands Mr Ross suffered stab wounds.

Carlyle and Allan appeared in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court this afternoon.

Neither man made a plea and they were both remanded in custody. They are due to appear again in court within the next eight days.

A major investigation was launched following the death of Mr Ross in the Buchanhaven area of the town.

A third man was arrested on Monday but has since been released without charge.

Mr Ross’ family released a statement through police and have asked for privacy at this time.

They said: “The family are coming to terms with their loss and respect privacy at this difficult time.”

On Monday, forensic officers could be seen examining the scene throughout the day – focusing on the road and a pathway to industrial land behind a line of houses.

People leaving close to the crime scene said police had been making door-to-door inquiries since Sunday night as they tried to piece together what happened to Mr Ross.
