Midwives from Raigmore Hospital in Inverness are in training for their latest charity challenge which will see them tackling the Great Glencoe challenge.
The team of 12, who last year helped raise more than £7,000 for cancer care in the Highlands by climbing Ben Nevis, have upped their game this year and are all looking forward to the 26.2mile trek.
Yvonne McKenzie, senior charge midwife, explained that the “trekathon” is like a marathon in that it covers the same distance but is nearly all off road, and whether you walk, run or jog you have 12hours in which to complete it.
She said: “After our last charity effort raised such a fantastic sum we did promise that we would be back.
“This is one of Scotland’s toughest trekathons.
“The training we have been doing is really important but we’ve been supported throughout by colleagues who have joined us on training treks and given us plenty of moral support.”
The team are raising money for L’arche Inverness which relies solely on public donations allowing it to provide support for adults with physical disabilities and other challenges, providing holistic environment and a sense of belonging to those in need.
