Iconic Scottish rockers Primal Scream are set to make their debut Belladrum appearance as Saturday night headliners this year, it has been revealed.

Bella organisers today unveil additions to a line-up that already includes Paloma Faith, Amy Macdonald and the Charlatans as stars at the August festival.

This year’s theme for the family-friendly festival is Bollywood, and this morning’s news sees a slew of names added to the roster of performers – along with the hint of a secret special guest.

Pop-punk/rock act You Me at Six have been added the Garden Stage line-up, and Fun Lovin Criminals will play Thursday night.

UK country siblings Ward Thomas also join the Thursday night line-up, with other new additions over the weekend including Beth Orton, Ivor Novello and Brit award nominee Nerina Pallot and one of 2018’s ones to watch Sea Girls.

Promoter Joe Gibbs said: “We have pulled off our best ever line-up in terms of headliners and strength in depth this year,” said promoter Joe Gibbs. “The Primals are one iconic Scottish rock act who have never played Bella and so we are utterly delighted to welcome to the gardens.”

Bella’s lead charitable cause for a second year running is its local shinty club’s bid to build a new pavilion. Camanachd Cup winning Lovat Shinty Club is one of the pillars of Bella’s local community, with a strong social side, an extensive youth initiative and a successful ladies’ team.

The new pavilion will provide a community hub with rooms for hire and a room for NHS clinics, plus male and female changing rooms, a social space, and a kitchen.

Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival takes place in the surroundings of Belladrum Estate, near Beauly in Inverness-shire. The independent festival has built a reputation for its eclectic line-ups, its offbeat non-musical entertainments and its all-ages approach.

The festival won a VisitScotland Thistle Award in 2009 and is a past winner of the Grassroots Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards, the festival industry’s ‘Oscars’.

It also hosts spoken word events and family acts such as Fun Box.
