Police are issuing travel advice as a major Highland festival and show are due to take place next week.
The Black Isle Show is held in Muir of Ord on Wednesday, August 1, and Thursday, August 2.
Belladrum music festival takes place near Beauly and will open on Thursday August 2, closing on Sunday, August 5.
The organisers of both events have been working with officers to make sure the thousands of people attending can enjoy themselves safely.
Police are supporting advice from the organisers for attendees to plan their travel in advance and leave extra time for their journeys – particularly on Thursday August 2 when the final day of the Black Isle Show overlaps with the opening day of Belladrum.
In previous years the clash of the two high profile events has caused traffic gridlock in Inverness. On what has become known as “Black Thursday”, many main routes have been jammed for hours at the height of the problem.
Belladrum event commander Chief Inspector Bob Mackay said: “We are pleased to be supporting these events once again this year and look forward to playing our part in welcoming people to the Highlands.
“Our officers will be in attendance at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and the Black Isle Show and I would encourage people to approach them with any concerns they may have or if you need assistance. Anyone who sees anything suspicious should report this to police.
“We have been working with the organisers and partners on their traffic management plans for this summer’s events.
“Our advice is to allow yourself more than enough time for your journey and to follow the travel advice provided by the organisers.”
Black Isle Show secretary Rod Mackenzie said: “The joint traffic management plan for both Black Isle Show and Belladrum traffic ingress has allowed for efficient and easy access to both events.
“However, we would encourage all those intending to be at the Black Isle Show to come early, gates are open to the public from 8.30am when traffic flow will be light.”
Joe Gibbs of Belladrum said: “We have been working very closely with police and The Black Isle Show and as last year we will be opening car parks at 8am on Thursday to allow festival goers to spread out their arrival to the festival.”
Acts performing at Belladrum this year include Gerry Cinnamon, Paloma Faith, Primal Scream, Amy MacDonald and the Fun Lovin Criminals.
