Police will be carrying out targeted patrols in the north during the festive period to deter shoplifting.
Officers announced the yuletide operation yesterday, after a 35-year-old woman was charged in connection with two separate alleged shoplifting incidents in Alness last week.
Officers will be carrying out highly visible patrols in key shopping areas throughout Easter Ross and working with retailers to help deter shoplifting.
Area Inspector Jamie Wilson said: “We are grateful for the assistance of retailers which allowed officers to take prompt action following the incidents this week in Alness.
“We have a good working relationship with local businesses who work with us to help prevent retail crime.
“A visible presence will be maintained on our high streets throughout the festive period to allow shops and members of the public to trade with confidence.”
