Police have sealed off a stretch of a Highlands road following a horrific crash which left one car on fire tonight.
The A82 Inverness to Fort William road has been closed between the city and Drumnadrochit after a silver Ford Galaxy and a blue Renault Clio came into collision at Dochgaroch.
One car caught ablaze as a result of the crash and fire crews are still at the scene.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said: “We received a call at about 10.18pm about a car on fire, and two units from Inverness attended.
“We are still there at the moment assisting with lighting and to investigate the scene.
“We are committed to being at this incident for some time, though the fire in the vehicle has been extinguished.
“Police are investigating the car fire and we are providing light to help with that, while stabilising the vehicle.”
The condition of the people in the vehicles involved is not known but the stretch is expected to remain closed for hours and a police spokesman confirmed the force were treating the accident as “serious”.
He added: “We got the call at 10.21pm about a crash half a mile north of Dochgarroch and the A82 is out of commission between Inverness and Drumnadrochit.”
