A Highland League footballer has been remanded in custody as he faces an attempted murder charge.
Richard Finnis appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday on a petition alleging an attack on a 30-year-old woman in the Kinmylies Way area of Inverness on February 16.
The 31-year-old has also been charged with possessing an item with a blade or point in a public place.
Finnis, who has played for Strathspey Thistle, made no plea or declaration during a brief appearance in private.

He attempted to secure his release but bail was refused and he was remanded in custody.
He is expected to make a second appearance at the city’s sheriff court next week.
