Tide Lines and Skerryvore are the headline acts in the Tunes by the Dunes being staged in Dunnet by North Coast Entertainments, which is run by local football teams, Thurso FC and Pentland United.

It has received £18,137 towards the costs of staging the event on September 6 and 7. It is planned to became an annual fixture.

Other local groups to win funding in the latest tranche of funding were Helmsdale Golf Club and Lybster Golf Club which received £20,000 and £3,000 respectively to help buy new mowers for their nine-hole courses.

Reay Golf Club got £10,000 to help refurbish its clubhouse while Wick-based North Apex Gymnastics Club picked up £10,000 towards new equipment and competition leotards .

Wick Amateur Swimming Club received £9,395 to host a five-day summer swimming camp in Wick and Thurso.

Fund chairman David Glass said: “This latest investment supports improvements to recreational amenities and events in Caithness and north Sutherland, helping to ensure that people living and visiting our area can enjoy a high standard of leisure activities.

“All of these projects are overseen by volunteers who work hard to improve the quality of life for our communities and we are pleased to support them in achieving their plans.”

The fund, which is supported by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority,  has committed more than £2 million to 161 projects since its inception in 2011
