An MSP has sets her sights on a Fort William win as she joins them to see a Highland League game.

Over the next fortnight, Kate Forbes will join the side as she embarks on her annual summer constituency tour.

As well as holding 17 surgeries, some in more remote locations such as the Isle of Canna, Kilchoan, Knoydart, and Lochaline, the Lochaber MSP will also be stopping off in Fort William, Corpach, Mallaig and Ballachulish.

Ms Forbes will be visiting a number of rural businesses, such as the Ardnamurchan Distillery, the village store and Puffin Coffee Shop in Kilchoan, the Resipole Studios in Strontian and also taking in Fort William FC’s Highland League match against Keith on Saturday August 17.

She said: “I have made it an annual tradition to spend my summer recess in the towns and villages of the constituency.

“Travelling over several weeks allows me to get to the smallest villages halls and invite anybody to meet with me at my surgeries.

“Everybody is welcome to come and raise any issue.

“I also meet people, visit businesses and this year I’m looking forward to watching a Fort William FC match.

“Although I was inspired by the women’s teams during the Women’s World Cup, I’ll be staying in the stands.

“There are lots of challenging issues in Lochaber. I am all too aware of them.

“I will persistently work to resolve and solve them and look forward to meeting people and chatting about these issues.”
