Two of TV’s biggest celebrities stepped back in time over the weekend to discover life as an 18th century crofter.

Outlander stars Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish, who play Jacobite clansmen in the lavish TV production, visited Glencoe Folk Museum in Glencoe village on Saturday afternoon as part of filming for an upcoming documentary, Clan Lands.

After keeping quiet about the visit, a post on Glencoe Folk Museum’s Facebook page at the start of the week, let the cat out the bag, it read: “You may have noticed that we closed up a little bit early on Saturday, but there was a very good reason for that.

“We were absolutely thrilled to welcome Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish of Outlander fame to the museum on their first day of filming for Clan Lands, a new show exploring the history and culture of the Scottish clans.

“We discussed the Jacobites and the Macdonalds of Glencoe, and even let them get up close and personal with some of our objects.

“We can’t wait to see the finished product, and wish them the best of luck with the show.”
