Renowned traditional music act Skipinnish have been announced as the headlining act of this year’s Dileab festival, due to take place in Lewis this November.

The event, run by Western Isles Council’s Education Department, will also see The Tumbling Souls and Face The West join Skipinnish as headliners, alongside local performers.

Skipinnish said they are “delighted” to be performing, adding that it will be a “concert that we will all remember for years to come.”

They continued: “Since Skipinnish began, the people of Lewis and Harris have given us huge support and we are delighted to be playing for them during our 20th anniversary year.”

This years event takes place in Lewis Sports Centre on Friday  November 29, with school pupils being granted their opportunity to play alongside the headline acts, as The Lewis and Harris Youth Band, Sir E Scott School Choir and The Nicolson Institute Choir all scheduled to perform.

Evelyn Coull Macleod, the council’s multimedia manager, said: “Following on from the success of Dileab in 2018 it was decided that the project would continue in different forms and those who are fortunate enough to secure tickets for this one-off event are guaranteed a fantastic evening of music.

“What is really special about this is the opportunity our young people are getting to perform alongside some of Scotland’s leading musicians and we hope it will be an unforgettable evening.”

Tickets for the event go on sale from 9am on Monday October 7 and will be priced at £25 for adults, and £15 for under 18s.
