A nursery teacher killed after being hit by a lorry has been described as a “shining light”.

Chloe Morrison died on Friday after being struck by the lorry on the A82 Inverness to Fort William road, near Drumnadrochit.

Yesterday, the 26-year-old’s family said: “We are absolutely devastated at the loss of our beloved Chloe.”

Miss Morrison, from Drumnadrochit, was walking on the pavement at about 1.10pm when the accident happened.

Police have since appealed for anyone with information to come forward, including those who may have dash-cam footage.

Tributes flooded in over the weekend, both from the local community and parents of children at Holm Nursery, Inverness, where she worked.

Local councillor Margaret Davidson said yesterday: “It is deeply sad.

“Everyone is absolutely staggered that this has happened.

“Chloe and her family are very well respected and are very much at the heart of the local community in Drumnadrochit and the wider area.

“Everyone is feeling this loss – it is just dreadful.

“We all need to get behind the police appeal and it there is anything that anyone can help with then I would urge them to come forward and assist.

“My heart goes out to Chloe’s family at what is an incredibly sad time.”

Online, Jennifer McKillop wrote: “Such a lovely girl to know growing up and be friends with. So shocked to hear this. Thinking of Chloe’s family.”

Hilda Gordon posted: “So, so sad. May you find some comfort with the beautiful memories she left behind. She was a shining light in this world and will be greatly missed.”

Caitriona MacDonald posted: “Absolutely devastated – my two adored Miss Morrison at breakfast club. She will be sorely missed.”

And Stella Fraser wrote: “Devastated to hear this sad news. Chloe was a joy to work with. Happy memories of our Ben Bhraggie Walk. Sincere condolences to all Chloe’s family.”

The A82 was closed for several hours while collision investigators examined the scene on Friday.

Sergeant Ewan Calder, from the road policing unit, said: “Our thoughts are with all of Chloe Morrison’s family and friends and our inquiries into this incident are ongoing.

“We would ask any motorists or members of the public who were in the area and may have witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage, and have not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.”

Miss Morrison’s death is the latest in a spate of accidents across the north, with a German tourist killed and eight others injured after a minibus collided with a tanker on the A82 at Bridge of Orchy on Wednesday.

Anyone with information should call 101.
