Preparations are underway for the return of the Cromarty Film Festival next weekend, which will bring a host of acclaimed personalities to the north.
Hundreds of people are expected to flock to the Black Isle village when the event returns for its 13th year.
The weekend-long festival will welcome a host of famous faces and award-winning talent to Cromarty as part of the three-day celebration of cinema.
Guests for this year’s event include best-selling Scottish crime writer Denise Mina, Lesley Riddoch, a renowned broadcaster, award-winning director and producer Zara Balfour and Oscar and BAFTA-nominated sound recordist Stuart Wilson.
The organisers said: “The planning is done: great guests and fantastic films are sorted, workshops planned, curry and kegs ordered, and now we can start to get excited about welcoming people to the small, but mighty Cromarty Film Festival.”
The event will open in spectacular style with the showing of several works curated by Glasgow Short Film Festival projected on to the side of the iconic Cromarty lighthouse.
Locals and guests will be able to warm themselves with the glow of the roaring fire braziers as they enjoy a hot dram alongside the evening festivities.
During the festival – from Friday until Sunday – a documentary about the Greenpeace oil rig occupation will also be shown for the first time: just a matter of months after the world’s media descended on the area.
The entertainment will be shown at several quirky locations across the town from a former beachside slaughterhouse turned coffee shop to a local resident’s living room.
The announcement comes as work in the community continues to construct a brand-new, purpose-built cinema, with doors due to open to film lovers in January.
Tickets are available for purchase from The Hugh Miller Institute on Church Street between 10am and noon for film society members and 1pm and 2pm for festival friends.
Attendees can also purchase tickets from the Eden Court box office until December 4 or on their website before tickets go on sale at Cromarty Library on Tuesday, December 6 from 6pm and 7pm, ahead of this year’s event.
During the film festival, tickets will be available from our box office at the Old Brewery Hub, commencing at 5pm on Friday the 6th Dec.
