A series of free bilingual videos has been created to help musicians learn or practice traditional music during lockdown.
The online tuition service has been produced by leading arts organisation Fèisean nan Gàidheal in Gaelic or English to provide lessons to people of different abilities.
Under the banner of FèisTV, and with funding from Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Creative Scotland and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, the Oide (tutor in Gaelic) series currently offers 70 lessons in accordion, fiddle and Gaelic song.
More will be available soon, funded by the Scottish Government.
Tuition is provided by some of the most experienced traditional music tutors in the country, including accordionist Ian Smith from folk group Trail West; fiddler Robbie Grieg from electronic folk band INYAL; and singers James Graham, Eilidh Cormack and Deirdre Graham.
Fèisean nan Gàidheal’s chief executive, Arthur Cormack, said: “Normally these lessons will be part of a paid subscription service, but we are delighted to offer this new service for free at this time while people are safely at home and looking for activities to keep themselves going.”
Steven Kellow, funding and project officer at Bòrd na Gàidhlig, added: “We welcome this resource which is extremely useful in supporting music tuition through the medium of Gaelic.
