An 83-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman were taken to hospital after their car collided with a van in the Ardnamurchan area.
The incident, involving a grey Subaru and a white Volkswagen van, happened on the B8007 two miles west of Salen around 4.10pm yesterday.
The occupants of the car were taken to Belford Hospital in Fort William for treatment to serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The driver and passenger of the Volkswagen were uninjured.
Police are now appealing for information.
Sergeant David Miller of Highland and Islands Road Policing said: “We are carrying out inquiries to establish the full circumstances which led to this collision.
“I would ask anyone who may have seen either vehicle prior to the incident or who may have dashcam footage which could assist our inquiries to come forward.”
