Police are warning people in Lochaber to ensure that all property in sheds and outbuildings is secured as the days become shorter.

Acting Inspector Andy Bilton: “As the nights are drawing in, we would urge everyone to lock up their sheds and outbuildings.

“We would also ask them to report any suspicious vehicles or people to us straight away.”

Meanwhile, they are appealing for information about a spate of crimes in the Fort William area.

Thieves broke into a locked shed in Moray Place, Upper Achintore, between 4pm on Thursday September 15 and 11am the following day.

Items stolen included Nike Vapor golf clubs in a blue and yellow Wilson bag, a cube push trolley and a bag of tools.

Damage was caused to a security padlock at the entrance to the New Start yard on Ben Nevis Industrial Estate between 7pm on Saturday September 10 and 6pm on Tuesday September 13.

Police are treating the incident as an attempt to gain entry to commit theft.

A black child’s Hard Rock mountain bike was stolen from Camanachd Crescent between 7pm on September 10 and 10am on Monday September 12.

A Nintendo 3DS portable game device and charger were removed from an insecure room in Lochaber UHI College accommodation at An Aird between noon and 4pm on Monday September 5.

And an attempt was made to break into a shed in Lundavara Road, Upper Achintore, in August or September, but no items were removed.

Anyone with information about any of these incidents is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or online.
